The use of ASC (Air Sphere Coating) provides images with high apparent resolution and contrast, and the improved 5-stop in-lens image stabilization (IS) helps to capture even sharper shots. In addition to the L-lens staple dust-proof, drip-proof structure and fluorine coating, the lens features a new heat shield coating that helps prevent the lens from overheating when shooting in the hot sun.
